Cymbidium Cali Night Black Shower (4 inch pot)
Introducing Cymbidium ‘Cali Night Black Shower’ — a statement orchid that redefines evening elegance. Standing 16 inches root to tip. Small but will grow quickly and is quite a standout. Few collectors will have this. Four inch pot.
This rare Cymbidium captivates with velvety, near-black petals edged in deep plum and a luminous, contrasting labellum that shimmers under low light. Robust spikes carry multiple large, long-lasting blooms season after season, making it ideal for dramatic indoor displays, upscale floral events, or a commanding centerpiece in a sophisticated collection. Warm tolerant.
Cymbidium ‘Cali Night’ thrives with bright, indirect light—morning sun or filtered afternoon light is ideal—while avoiding harsh midday rays that scorch leaves. Provide cool to intermediate temperatures: daytime 65–75°F and nighttime 50–55°F to encourage strong growth and flower spike formation. Keep the potting mix evenly moist during the growing season, watering thoroughly then allowing the top inch to dry before watering again; reduce frequency slightly after flowering but never let the mix dry out completely. Use a balanced fertilizer (20-10-20 or a specialized orchid feed) applied at half strength every two weeks during active growth, switching to monthly in winter. Ensure excellent drainage and good air circulation to prevent root rot and fungal issues, repot every 2–3 years in a chunky, well-draining orchid medium. Finally, provide a clear seasonal cue—slightly cooler nights and shorter days in autumn—to stimulate bloom spikes for a rewarding display of dramatic, long-lasting flowers.
